An institution in the heart of Newcastle’s Darby Street precinct, The Delany Hotel had long been recognised as a local landmark, but its market perception no longer reflected the scale of its opportunity. Often seen as an outdated pub and late-night venue, The Del was ready for a new chapter.
As part of a major refurbishment and venue relaunch, Pink Pickle Marketing was engaged to lead the digital rollout, reposition the venue for a broader audience, and build a marketing engine capable of driving sustained growth across food, beverage, events and private functions.
The Challenge
The opportunity at The Del was significant, but so was the challenge.
The venue needed to shift public perception, broaden its appeal, and establish itself as more than a nightlife destination. It needed to reconnect with the local community, attract a stronger daytime and dining audience, and create a digital presence that matched the quality, ambition and experience of the refurbished venue.
Most importantly, the relaunch needed to translate into measurable commercial performance, not just awareness.
Our Approach
Pink Pickle delivered a full-funnel digital relaunch strategy designed to support the venue’s transformation and position The Del as one of Newcastle’s leading hospitality destinations.
This included refining brand messaging and positioning, developing a stronger digital identity, rebuilding the website experience, and rolling out a structured marketing strategy across SEO, Google Ads, Meta Ads, organic social, PR and ongoing content production.
A major focus was placed on repositioning The Del around food, atmosphere, events and community connection, supported by always-on promotion of weekly specials, live entertainment, seasonal activations and private functions.
Through strategic content creation, stronger storytelling and performance-led paid media, we built a consistent digital presence that kept The Del visible, relevant and top of mind, while driving direct bookings, enquiries and repeat visitation.
